Bankroll and discipline

Golden Wings, built and stress-tested in the free roulette risk calculator

A step-by-step tutorial. Rebuild Bet With Mo's Golden Wings in the free VIPER Survival Lab, two-win rule included, and see what a 30-spin session really asks of it.

Golden Wings is a budget strategy from the Bet With Mo channel: nine dollars a spin, a bankroll of $765, and a run of pushes and small wins that looks very calm on video. You can watch the original here: Golden Wings on Bet With Mo.

I liked it enough to put it through the VIPER Survival Lab, our free roulette risk calculator, and that is what this post is: the full build, click by click, then what one normal 30-spin session looks like. A couple of the findings surprised me, and one of them is hiding in the cleverest part of Mo's progression. Every number below comes from the lab itself, and the link at the end reopens the exact setup so you can check them.

Only gamble with money you can afford to lose.

What Golden Wings is

Mo plays it on a double-zero table with $1 units. One spin looks like this:

  • First dozen: $1 on each of the first three streets, 1-3, 4-6 and 7-9.
  • Second dozen: $3 on the dozen itself.
  • Third dozen: $1 on each of the last three streets, 28-30, 31-33 and 34-36.

That is $9 on the table. A street hit returns $12, so the spin nets +$3. The second dozen returns $9, your stake exactly, so it is a push. The eight numbers nobody covers, 0, 00, 10, 11, 12, 25, 26 and 27, lose the $9.

After a loss the bet climbs: $9, $18, $27, $36, $45, then $90, $180 and $360. A push holds the bet where it is. A win takes it back to $9, with one twist that Mo saves for the end of the video: from $45 up, you need two wins in a row before you drop back down.

Step 1. Build the layout

Open the lab and stay on the 01 Build layout tab.

  1. Choose US · double zero. The felt gains its 00 and the pocket count reads 38.
  2. In the Chip rack, pick the $1 chip.
  3. Press Street, then tap the marker on the bottom edge of the 1-2-3 column. A $1 chip lands on the street. Do the same for 4-6, 7-9, 28-30, 31-33 and 34-36.
  4. Press Outside (or just Smart) and tap the 2nd 12 box three times. Chips stack on repeat taps, so the dozen reads $3.
The Survival Lab build tab on a double-zero felt with six $1 street chips and a $3 chip on the second dozen
Golden Wings on the felt: six streets at $1 and the second dozen at $3. Chips stack on repeat taps.

The Your layout panel on the right already tells you most of the story. Total at risk per spin $9.00. Coverage 30 of 38. Net win 18 of 38. Push 12 of 38. Net loss 8 of 38. Mo covers thirty numbers, and twelve of them hand your money straight back.

Step 2. Set the bankroll and the ladder

Open Session assumptions on the left.

  • Bankroll 765. Chip step $1.00. Spins in session 30, a normal sitting. (Mo's video ran about 45.)
  • Profit target and Stop-loss: leave them at None for now, the way Mo played it.

Under Progression, set the Type to Custom ladder and leave Applies to on Whole layout. Type the multipliers one level at a time, using Add level as you go: ×1, ×2, ×3, ×4, ×5, ×10, ×20, ×40. That is $9 up to $360, exactly Mo's rungs.

The custom ladder in Session assumptions with eight levels from ×1 to ×40
Eight levels: ×1 to ×5 climb by one unit, then ×10, ×20 and ×40 double.

Then the rules under the ladder:

  • After a net loss: Step up 1 level.
  • After a net win: Back to Level 1.
  • After a push: Stay on this level.

Now Mo's twist. Right under After a net win, tick Wait for more wins in a row at the higher levels. Pick Level 5 · ×5 · $45 a spin as the starting rung and 2 wins. The dropdown shows the dollar stake of each rung, so you can match it to the video without counting rows.

The After a net win setting with Wait for more wins in a row ticked: from Level 5, ×5, $45 a spin up, need 2 net wins in a row before going back to Level 1
Mo's rule in one sentence: from the $45 rung up, two net wins in a row before the bet drops back to $9.

The help line spells out the details Mo leaves to the viewer. Until the second win, a win keeps the same bet. A loss resets the count and steps up as usual. A push doesn't count and doesn't reset it.

Last, under Losing streaks, set the run length to 8, the depth of the ladder, and choose Net losses, pushes ignored. A push does not move the ladder, so it should not break a losing run either.

Step 3. Read the analysis

Press Analyze risk.

Pocket by pocket

The pocket-by-pocket map for Golden Wings: 18 green net-win pockets at +$3, 12 grey pushes at $0 and 8 red losses at −$9
Eighteen pockets pay +$3, twelve return your money, eight take $9.

The lab prices the layout at −$0.47 a spin, the double-zero table's 5.26% of the $9 staked. At $9 a spin that is about $14 over 30 spins, a little more once the ladder lifts the stakes. It is real, but small next to the swings of a single session. The shape matters more: a win is $3, a loss is $9, and a third of the covered numbers only give your stake back.

Losing streaks

The exact chance of a run of net losses inside 30 spins, pushes ignored:

5$903.2%
6$1800.94%
7$3600.27%
8nothing left0.08%

About one session in thirty puts the $90 bet on the felt. The $360 bet needs seven in a row, roughly one session in 370. Keep that number in mind; Mo's twist changes it.

Bankroll and progression

The Bankroll and progression cards for Golden Wings: eight straight losses are funded, the ninth wager of $360 is the first unaffordable, with $0 left
Eight straight losses cost exactly $765. The ninth wager finds nothing left.
AttemptWagerLost so farBankroll after
1$9$9$756
2$18$27$738
3$27$54$711
4$36$90$675
5$45$135$630
6$90$225$540
7$180$405$360
8$360$765$0

Here is the first surprise. Add the ladder up and it comes to $765, to the dollar. Mo's bankroll is one complete ladder, which is a tidy way to size it, and it also means there is no slack at all. Seven losses leave you $405 down with exactly $360 in hand for the $360 bet. Anything lost earlier in the session and that bet cannot be placed.

The recovery map

The recovery map answers the question every progression player asks: if I am down and the next spin hits, am I back?

The recovery map after four losses: a winning pocket leaves the session at −$75 and, under the two-wins rule, keeps the $45 bet for one more win
Four losses in, the $45 bet wins on eighteen pockets. Each leaves the session $75 down, and Mo's rule keeps the $45 bet up for one more win.

On Golden Wings the answer is no, at every rung. A street pays 11 to 1 on one of seven chips, so each win claws back about a third of what that rung cost:

  • After one loss you are $9 down. The $18 bet wins $6. Session: −$3.
  • After four losses you are $90 down. The $45 bet wins $15. Session: −$75.
  • After seven losses you are $405 down. The $360 bet wins $120. Session: −$285.

Mo noticed this himself at the $18 bet: "we actually lost a little bit of money on this bet, but that's fine." This is exactly why his two-win rule exists. Four losses in, one win at $45 takes you to −$75, and the rule keeps the $45 bet up. A second win takes you to −$60 and only then back to $9. Mo's rule buys a second bite at the big bet, so the recovery comes from two wins instead of one. The lab says so in plain words above the map.

Step 4. Run 30-spin sessions

Press Run sessions, type golden-wings as the seed, choose 10,000 sessions and press Run. The seed means anyone who opens the link below gets the same ten thousand sessions, not just similar ones.

The Run sessions results for Golden Wings over 10,000 30-spin sessions with the two-win rule: average −$21.81, median −$12.00, 61.2% losing sessions, P95 drawdown $132

Best session+$66
Deepest drawdown, 1 session in 20$132 or worse

A third of sessions end ahead, and the median one costs a little over one unit's worth of losses. That is the honest picture of Golden Wings over a normal sitting. It is a grinder: $3 a win against $9 a loss, with the ladder doing the heavy lifting. Mo's +$80 took him about 45 spins. Across 10,000 sessions of 30 spins, the best finish was +$66.

The surprise in Mo's twist

Run the same 10,000 sessions with the box unticked, so one win at any rung sends you back to $9, and compare:

30 spins, seed golden-wingsOne win to drop backMo's two-win rule
Sessions that finished ahead35 in 10035 in 100

Sessions that placed the $360 bet17 in 10,000117 in 10,000
Next bet unaffordable15 in 10,00059 in 10,000

The two-win rule leaves the typical night alone and makes the bad night about four times as likely. The reason is in the streak table above. Without the rule, the only road to the $360 bet is seven losses in a row. With it, a win at $90 no longer resets anything, so a loss either side of that win keeps the ladder climbing. In the lab, most of the sessions that went broke under Mo's rule never saw more than four to six losses in a row. A win in the middle of the run used to rescue them; with the rule, it doesn't.

That is the trade Mo made. The rule gives a high rung a second chance to claw back, and in exchange the top of the ladder stops being a seven-in-a-row event. Neither version is wrong. The lab just lets you see the price before you sit down.

One setting that changes the bad night

Put a Stop-loss of $200 in Session assumptions and run again. The share of sessions that finish ahead stays at 35 in 100. About 2 sessions in 100 stop out at the line, the worst session becomes −$378 instead of −$765, and the ladder never asks for more than $180. The stop simply refuses the two bets that cost the most, which is the part of Mo's rule that bites.

Take it with you

Open Golden Wings in the Survival Lab and every number above is live, Mo's rule included. Untick it to see the one-win version, add a stop-loss, or move the whole thing to a single-zero table and watch the eight losing pockets become seven. The Run sessions tab replays the worst session spin by spin and tags every held win, and the Risk report tab prints the lot on one page.

If you follow Mo, keep enjoying the channel. Golden Wings is a pleasant way to spend $9 a spin, and now you know what a normal session looks like, where its ladder bites, and what the two-win rule really costs.
